Spiderman India

Spider-Man: India is a comic book originally published in India by Gotham Entertainment Group in 2004, retelling the story of Marvel Comics' Spider-Man in an Indian setting. It ran for four issues, which were later also published in the United States in 2005 and collected into a trade paperback.

PLOT: Pavitr Prabhakar, a poor Indian boy, lives in a village and moves to Mumbai with his aunt Maya and uncle Bhim to study after getting half a scholarship. His parents died some years ago. Other boys at the school tease him and beat him. He knows his uncle Bhim is struggling to support him and his aunt Maya, and pay the school. Only Meera, a girl from school, befriends him. Meanwhile, Nalin Oberoi, a local crime lord, uses an amulet to perform an ancient ritual, where he gets possessed by a demon committed to opening the gate for other demons to get back to Earth. While being chased by other kids, Pavitr encounters an ancient god who gives him the power of a spider, to fight the evil that threatens the world. While discovering his powers, Pavitr refuses to help a woman being attacked by several men. He leaves the place, but comes back when he hears his uncle cry, who was stabbed when he tried to help the woman. Thus Pavitr understands that with great power comes great responsibility.Next, Nalin Oberoi becomes human again, transforms his doctor into Doctor Octopus (without the usual mechanical arms), and sends him to kill Spider-Man, as instructed by the demon voices. Doc Ock fails, and Spider-Man makes it to the newspapers, where he is deemed a threat.Oberoi kidnaps Pavitr's aunt, taking her to a refinery outside Mumbai. There he betrays Doctor Octopus, blasting him away with a ray. Spider-Man arrives and fights Oberoi, who has also kidnapped Meera. He lets both aunt Maya and Meera fall. Spider-Man dives for his aunt, but then fails to rescue Meera, who is saved by Doctor Octopus, that is just coming back to exact revenge on Oberoi. Pavitr reveals his identity to Meera and asks her to take his aunt away.Oberoi gets rid of Doctor Octopus for good, and touches Spider-Man with the amulet. A Venom-like creature tries to take Spider-Man to the dark side, but he remembers his uncle and rejects the evil. By doing it, the link between the demons and Oberoi is shattered, and he becomes human again.Everything goes back to normal, Spider-Man gets the girl, and celebrates the Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, with his aunt

Transformers Movie Adaptation & Prequel (1986 & 2007)

Transformers is a 2007 live action film directed by Michael Bay and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, based on the Transformers franchise. Producers Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto developed the film, and Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman wrote the script, aiming for a realistic interpretation of the characters. Though not a Transformers fan, Bay was convinced by Spielberg to direct, and he created an intricate design aesthetic for the computer-generated robots. General Motors and the United States military lent their support during filming, to keep the budget under $150 million. Armed with an enormous marketing campaign including comics, toys and tie-in deals, Transformers opened in the United States on July 2, 2007, and broke the box office record for the highest-grossing opening week for a non-sequel. Here's the official prequel and the official movie adaptation.

Mortal Kombat

The comic series began following the release of the first Mortal Kombat game in 1992 for home consoles, which was already a phenomenial hit in the arcades. The comic books were originally released following the pre-order of the game to give fans some background information of Mortal Kombat, and to also hype up the fans about the game. The comic books were supposed to end there, seeing that the fans were supposed to be more interested in playing the game rather than reading about it . However, it was realised upon that the comic book series had garned some sales potential, and therefore the trend of selling the comic book series began. The comics were popular, especially during the rise of the Mortal Kombat series. Sadly, as the series lost popularity in the late 1990s so did the comic books.

The Legend of Zelda - Four Swords Adventure Volume 2

The Legend of Zelda (ゼルダの伝説, Zeruda no Densetsu?) is a high fantasy action-adventure video game series created by game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and developed and published by Nintendo. The gameplay consists of a mixture of action, adventure, puzzle solving, role-playing and occasional platforming, stealth and racing elements. The series centers around Link, the main playable character and protagonist. Link is often given the task of rescuing Princess Zelda and the most common setting of the series, Hyrule, from Ganon who is the primary antagonist of the series. However other settings and antagonists have appeared throughout the games, with Vaati having recently become the series' secondary antagonist. The story commonly involves a relic known as the Triforce, a set of three golden triangles of omnipotence. The protagonist in each game is not always the same iteration of Link, although the same character sometimes appears across multiple games.
The Legend of Zelda series has sold over 52 million copies since the release of the first game, The Legend of Zelda[1], and continues to be successful worldwide. The series consists of fourteen official games on all of Nintendo's major consoles, as well as several spin-offs. An animated series based on the games aired in 1989, and a manga adaptation officially endorsed and commissioned by Nintendo has been produced in Japan since 1997.

Children of the Grave

To call this collection good would be a severe understatement. This is probably one of the best comic book stories IDW has ever released, even though this was originally published by Shooting Star Comics. What we have here is an exciting combination of thrills, drama, and philosophy, all packaged beautifully and fittingly for the subject matter.

World War Hulk

It also ran through several extant Marvel comics series. The plot is the culmination of a series of events that began with the Hulk being tricked into being sent into space by the Illuminati and a life model decoy of Nick Fury, the Hulk's subsequent exile seen in Planet Hulk and his imminent return to Earth to seek revenge on the Illuminati.Blaming The Illuminati for the explosion of a space vessel they had constructed, leading to the deaths of his wife, his unborn child and millions of inhabitants of the planet Sakaar, the Hulk, stronger than ever due to his rage, as well as the radiation from the warp core explosion, and his allies, the Warbound, come to Earth intent on revenge. First stopping at the moon, the Hulk defeats Illuminatus Black Bolt. The Hulk proceeds to Manhattan, New York City, where he demands the presence of the Illuminati and that the city be evacuated. He travels to the nearby X-Mansion, home of the X-Men, where Illuminatus Professor Xavier, absent from the decision to send the Hulk off-planet, admits he would have agreed to that but not to permanent exile. The Hulk defeats several teams of X-Men,[6] and battles the Juggernaut, but leaves after learning of the mutant population's heavy losses during M-Day. When the Hulk returns to Manhattan, the superhuman-operative team Gamma Corps battles him, but the Hulk convinces them they follow a false cause.

It is a crossover in which Superman and Batman have to battle both the Aliens and Predator.

The Predators landed in a (what was at the time) dormant volcano. Now in our modern time, a mountain climbing crew has gone missing in the Andes. Batman becomes the emissary of Superman, whom the Predators believe to be a sun spirit, through a show of strength. They decide to help the Predators leave Earth, for the good of themselves and the planet.

Amazing Spiderman

The Amazing Spider-Man is an American comic book series published by Marvel Comics, and additionally a spin-off television program and a daily newspaper comic strip, all featuring the adventures of the superhero Spider-Man.

Spider-Man first appeared in the comic book Amazing Fantasy #15 (Aug. 1962). The series was cancelled with that issue, but response to the character was so positive that a solo title, The Amazing Spider-Man, was launched with a March 1963 cover-date.
The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Steve Ditko, and the pair produced 38 issues from 1963 to 1966. Since then, many writers and artists have taken over the monthly comic through the years, chronicling the adventures of Marvel's most identifiable hero.
The Amazing Spider-Man is the character's flagship series. Most of the major characters and villains of the Spider-Man saga have been introduced here, and it is where key events occur. The title was published continuously until 1998 when Marvel Comics relaunched it with a new issue #1 (Jan. 1999), but on Spider-Man's 40th anniversary, this new title reverted to using the numbering of the original series, beginning again with issue #500 (Dec. 2003), and is currently published three times a month as part of Marvel's "Brand New Day" event.

The property was optioned for a movie in 2002.

Lead character Emma Sonnet returns after disappearing eight years before, with no answers for former best friends Brett and Dawn about where she has been and how she has become the until-now unheard-of tenth sister of the mythological nine Muses, the inspirational daughters of the almighty Zeus.
The story involves a crossover with the Mike Weiringo comic book Tellos.

calvin and hobbes

Calvin and Hobbes is a comic strip written and illustrated by Bill Watterson, following the humorous antics of Calvin, an imaginative six-year old boy, and Hobbes, his energetic and sardonic—albeit stuffed—tiger. The pair are named after John Calvin, a 16th century French Reformation theologian, and Thomas Hobbes, a 17th century English political philosopher.[1] The strip was syndicated daily from November 18, 1985 to December 31, 1995. At its height, Calvin and Hobbes was carried by over 2,400 newspapers worldwide. To date, more than 30 million copies of the 18 Calvin and Hobbes books have been printed.[2]
The strip is vaguely set in the contemporary Midwestern United States, on the outskirts of suburbia, a location probably inspired by Watterson's home town of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Calvin and Hobbes appear in most of the strips, while a small number focus on other supporting characters. The broad themes of the strip deal with Calvin's flights of fantasy, his friendship with Hobbes, his misadventures, his unique views on a diverse range of political and cultural issues and his relationships and interactions with his parents, classmates, educators, and other members of society. The dual nature of Hobbes is also a recurring motif; Calvin sees Hobbes as a live tiger, while other characters see him as a stuffed animal.

Alias

Alias is a comic book series created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos. It was published by Marvel Comics under Marvel's MAX imprint for a total of 28 issues from 2001 to 2004.

Alias was written by Bendis and illustrated for most of its run by Michael Gaydos, with covers by David Mack. Characters from the series moved to Brian Michael Bendis' subsequent series The Pulse.
The protagonist of Alias is Jessica Jones, a former costumed superhero named Jewel who left that avocation to become a private investigator. The running thread is Jessica's character development, as the layers of her past and personality are revealed to the reader while, simultaneously, she tries to come to terms with them herself.
Alias was one of the titles that launched Marvel's "R-Rated" MAX imprint, and was reported[citation needed] to have been one of the reasons the imprint was created. Marvel Publishing President Bill Jemas read a draft of the script for the first issue of Alias (which, characteristically, starts with the word "fuck") and exclaimed "Why couldn't we publish this?"[citation needed]
Being under the MAX imprint imposed certain other limitations on what the creators could do in the series. They were not allowed, for example, to use many of Marvel's most famous characters, such as Spider-Man (with the exception of one cameo). Bendis gave this as one reason in afterword to Alias #28 for ending the series and moving the characters to The Pulse.
The series won the Comics Buyer's Guide Award for Favorite Comic Series in 2003, and the Harvey Award for Best New Series in 2002.

Area 88

Area 88 (エリア88, Eria Hachi-Jū-Hachi?) is a Japanese manga series by Kaoru Shintani serialized between 1979 and 1986. The story is about a young pilot named Shin Kazama and his experiences at Area 88, a mercenary air force base secluded in the desert of a war torn country. Shin goes from head of his class at a world renowned aviation school dating the beautiful daughter of an airline president to a mercenary fighter pilot bound to Area 88 by a three-year contract that he was duped into signing by a jealous and competitive childhood friend. Determined to earn $1.5 million dollars to buy his way out of the obligation and return home, killing becomes second nature to Shin as he quickly rises to the top rank at Area 88. Overwrought with shame and self-loathing for what he has become, Shin begins to question whether he is still fighting for survival, or like his fellow mercenaries, for the sheer excitement and camaraderie of battle.

Chiaroscuro

Several hundred years ago, there was this man that went by the name of Leonardo da Vinci. His friends called him da Vinci for short. The legends say he was a pretty competent artist, if you're a judge of that sort of thing. These days, Mr. Leonardo enjoys quite a bit of popularity, between the bestselling novel, The Da Vinci Code, a multitude of cable TV documentaries, and having a Ninja Turtle named after him. But well before anyone gave two hoots about Leo's secret code and well after the heroes in a half-shell were past their prime, Vertigo released Chiaroscuro: The Private Lives of Leonardo da Vinci, a 10-issue mini-series that delves into the secret life of Leonardo, the one you don't learn about in 10th grade art class.Salai, who makes Chiaroscuro interesting, is introduced as a lowly street urchin adopted by Leonardo because of his stunning beauty. Their relationship quickly takes a sharp turn into Woody Allen territory and Salai becomes Leonardo's lover, muse and greatest source of torment. That sounds like a heavy workload for one troublemaker, but he also narrates the book, providing an outsider's perspective on his mentor. Through Salai's eyes, we come to see Leonardo as a brilliant, but highly flawed and neurotic man.

21 Down

The book wears its cinematic influences on its sleeve, sometimes veering almost into derivative territory, but it's incredibly well-executed, and it reads less like a super-hero comic and more like a drama/action with super-heroic elements. Taking a fantastic premise of a psychic with one year to live, Gray, Saiz and Palmiotti have crafted a good read with a strong central character.21 Down starts in the middle, as we don't see where Preston gets his powers or his curse (although those who read Gen 13 #0 got a hint), and that works very well for the book. We are immediately immersed in Preston's life, and it's not the greatest thing in the world. His brother uses him to get promotions as a cop, the visions of death that he gets are beginning to wear on him, and he knows full well that he only has one year to live, which is screwing up his psyche something fierce. Gray and Palmiotti wisely make Preston likable and even heroic despite his beleaguered attitude, though; he's having a rough go of it, but he still has time to spend with an old man who doesn't have any other friends, and he still does the right thing when he knows a crime has been committed.

Drawn in classic manga style, but with a hint more reality than most manga action graphic novels, Child of Dreams wisely tangles Batman and Bruce Wayne in a conspiracy with ambitious journalists from Japan. Moonshadow

MoonShadow is a rare find- a wildly fictional book that manages to identify with the reader. Its a coming-of-age story in a lewd, violent, funny, whimsical, tragic, even nostalgic universe. Its written as an autobiography of a fictional character. An honest retelling of his life as an intergalactic Huckleberry Finn. The artwork is painted, adding a sense of realism to the character. This gets my highest compliment: after finishing it I felt disappointment that Moonshadow was fiction.
